About - The Gathered Hour

I’m Tanika, a Brisbane-based celebration photographer.

The Gathered Hour is my little corner of the world where I capture light, connection, and the beautifully ordinary and extraordinary moments that make up our lives.

I photograph the moments that bring people together. The hugs when everyone finally arrives, the clinking of glasses, the laughter that fills a room when something meaningful is being celebrated.

I’m drawn to gatherings because that’s where life really happens. Birthdays, baptisms, weddings, end-of-year parties, and everything in between. These are the hours we remember, the ones that stay with us long after the day is over.

I show up as more than just the photographer, I’m there as part of the gathering. I blend in, connect with your people, and capture your celebration as it unfolds naturally. What you’re left with is a heartfelt record of the joy, connection, and moments that make your gathering truly yours.

Fact 1

I was raised in Pretoria, South Africa and celebrated the cross-continental move with my Husband, our beautiful cat, my parents and the best of friends.

Fact 2

Sneaking in pictures of my friends and family when in their element is an old hobby of mine, so I strive to get candid shots with all the emotion tied into them.

Fact 3

Just like with my photography, I enjoy the celebrating most things in life - being able to travel, rainy days after a heat wave and especially my cat's birthday.
